Sadie C Takes the Stage at Flappers and the San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival This August

Two shows across two Los Angeles-area venues mark August as a busy stretch for Sadie C, a SAG-AFTRA actress, singer, and standup comedian who has been building her stage presence across Southern California while carrying a screen career that runs from independent film and theater into national advertising. She performs at Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank on August 23, then appears at 9 PM on August 26 as a featured comedian at the San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival, held at Astronaut City Comedy Club and Karaoke Bar in Arcadia, California.

The festival runs August 23 through August 29, placing more than 50 featured performers alongside nationally touring headliners at a venue that has become a focus of comedy activity in the San Gabriel Valley since opening in 2025. The August 26 showcase is headlined by Erik Escobar, a touring comedian whose television credits include NBC’s Last Comic Standing, making the bill a mix of nationally established and regionally developing voices.

The material she carries into those rooms has been in development in front of paying audiences for several years. A set she performed at the Ice House in Pasadena, titled “Do I Look Like A Duolingo Owl To You,” examined what she described in a February 2026 interview published by ShoutoutLA as the experience of being treated by men as a cultural shorthand rather than a distinct person. The Ice House is a long-running comedy venue in the San Gabriel Valley, and performing that material there put it in front of a room working comedians recognize. She performed it, by her account, to a crowd that included many of the people it addressed, and the response bore out the idea behind it.

Comedy was not the original plan. She left a corporate career to return to acting, and the standup developed from there. She has described the shift as arriving almost by accident: enough people kept pointing out that she was funny that she eventually started paying attention, and by her account her brain now generates material in the middle of the night whether she asks it to or not. The acting career she returned to has been running since 2013, with screen credits that include Cobra Kai: Vietnam Vengeance and the independent features Hanako and JAWZ: Come Together. In April 2026, she appeared in an Apple commercial, adding national brand advertising to a resume that spans independent film, theater, and standup.

She performs in Mandarin, Japanese, Taiwanese, and English, a language range that shaped the roles available to her early in her career and that runs through the perspective she brings to the stage. In a 2025 interview published by BoldJourney, she described a shift in how she now experiences that position: she is being invited into more rooms in part because she occupies a space that few other working comedians do, and her comedy is partly about describing that space back to the people she finds already in it.

On the theater side, Sadie C has appeared twice at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. In 2025, she played the lead in Her Rage, a multilingual dramatic work set in 1990s Taiwan built around domestic violence, immigration barriers, and the consequences of fighting back. This past June, she appeared in a supporting role in Two Sides of the Same Coin, a world premiere play following two fifteen-year-olds navigating pregnancy in 2026 America without financial or home support. Both productions are listed on the Hollywood Fringe Festival website.

Her podcast, Ecobitch Actress, is available on YouTube and across major podcast platforms. It covers acting, race, training, and what building a creative career in Los Angeles actually looks like from the inside, including the parts that rarely make it into the promotional materials.
