The single dropped in August. Within weeks, Ashleigh K was performing it at a Paris Fashion Week event.
For most independent artists, that would be an unusual sequence. For someone whose career has spent more than two decades in music and modeling, it was a natural continuation. “Judging Me,” released in August and featuring Arbon the Ghost, made its live debut during one of the year’s most photographed weeks in fashion, not because the timing was calculated but because Ashleigh K already had a presence in that world.
The music started long before the runway did. She began playing violin and singing at the age of six, accumulating formal music qualifications through childhood and into her early teens. At sixteen, she toured the United States as part of her school orchestra, an early experience of performing for unfamiliar audiences far from home. In 2003, she moved to London to take a degree in Popular Music Performance, trading the classical training behind her for the songwriting and contemporary sound she has worked in since. After graduating, she spent time working with other artists while building her own material.
Her debut single, “Truth,” appeared in 2012. The music video was shot on a Friday night during a Metropolitan Police raid on Shoreditch bars, giving the footage a texture that no planned shoot could replicate. That December brought “Cowboy,” filmed in Desert Hot Springs, California, a move outward in both geography and ambition. A 2024 profile in Vegas 2 LA Magazine reported the video aired on MTV2 and Fuse, went on to the Vevo music channel, and passed 300,000 YouTube views.
The California connection has lasted. She works with LA-based producer Mark Tierney, and four of her music videos have been shot in the United States. The geography keeps returning: Desert Hot Springs for “Cowboy,” the wider California area for later releases, and then “Live Life” in February 2023. Working from London while returning regularly to California for production, Ashleigh K has built a catalog that she describes as now spanning two albums and ten singles, all available on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
The modeling work has run alongside the music for just as long.
She has been in the industry for more than twenty years, with a record of international publication across fashion and beauty. For much of that period, the two careers occupied separate spaces. The pandemic years changed the balance. During lockdown, she started making videos at home with her children, initially without a commercial aim. The content found an audience. Brands followed. In 2024 alone she completed shoots in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, France, and Italy. Among the brands she has worked with is Aftershock London. That September she modeled and performed at London Fashion Week with ilovefashionUK. The fashion and brand work she does is documented in detail across her Instagram.
The Paris Fashion Week performance this season, where she took “Judging Me” to a live audience, is the point where those two parallel careers arrived in the same room. A recently released single, featuring a collaborator, performed at one of the most closely watched moments in the fashion calendar. The music arrived as a headlining act on its own terms.
Her YouTube channel carries the full video catalog, including the California-shot work.
A Halloween performance in London is scheduled for later in October.
